Technical run on the 18th Novemeber

In todays technical run, it was our first chance to look at any technical elements that may be included in the play. As a class we set up the audience seating, with this we had to work out how high we could make the rake of the rigging, without it being to high that it becomes unsafe. We timed this so then we knew how long it would take to put up when it came to show week. While we were doing this, the sound system was being set up, this gave us a chance to work on songs and any microphone assisted lines. We also were all given separate roles to work on and explore. I was given the task of looking into Rapunzel tower. With this we had to make sure that there was a good amount of height so that she would be taller than people on the ground, yet making sure it is still safe again. We put the rostrum together so it was in stair manner so that actors could get up the tower easily and quickly from scene to scene.

Once everything was set up we had about an hour to work on any songs that we needed to do. I got the chance to run through 'It Takes Two' for the first time with the microphones. From this I got a feel for the volume that I needed to sing at, for the microphone to pick me up yet without drowning out the Bakers Wife. From this I then went on to get so extra help with my singing, particularly looking at my high notes.
