On this lesson we were told that we were to perform a solo song of our choice from a selection of musicals, to help raise our singing unit, and attaches the minimum singing assessments.
The four musicals we were aloud to perform from were; Les Miserable, Cats, Joseph and Hairspray. The first musical that I looked into was Les Mis, i have been familiar with the song 'Stars' and wanted to research into it further to see if it fit my voice and i could add characterisation well. This song gets very complex when it gets to the end, and starts to jump notes a lot. It was suggested that i looked at the song 'Close Every Door' from Joseph. This song seemed more to my range and still had the characterisation that i was looking for. I did not come up with a choice in the lesson so i will go off and research into the two songs more.
I will learn both songs then speak to Kim about which one she feels would best suit my voice or if there are any other options.
