Shows on 18/12/14
Scene One
In scene one on the second night of shows I feel it went really well, I feel that I had a lot of characterisation during the opening song, I really began to think about the sorrow that my character would be going through. This made it a lot easier for me to have a connection with the Bakers Wife (Bryleah). During the Witches rap I made a decision to stay back near the bakery during, rather than going up to the witch as she raps. This worked well as I could then have more interaction with the Bakers Wife about what the Witch is saying. As for my singing in the opening song of scene one, I was not happy with how I sang my solo lines, this is because I did not get enough breathe before I sang, so I couldn't hold the notes for as long as I wanted, while this was still going on I still kept all of my characterisation, so that it would not be come clear to the audience. Before the show started as a warm up we ran the closing song to scene one, thinking about how the dance goes and resolving the issue we had with the 8 beat sequence that we all made up. Once we went through this it went very smoothly and all was in time to all of the queue lines.
Scene Two
Due to the wind and rain in the first show on the 18/12/14 I had some problems with my microphone, I angled my body so that the wind was hitting my back, this meant that the wind did not make a noise through my microphones. In this scene I was really happy with my characterisation and vocal skills, I really thought about how I would deliver my lines in an interesting and inventive way. A line that really stood out for my was "Is harm to come to that little girl, in the red cape" I split it in half, showing my concern for the girl and what was going to happen, and then for the second half showing the selfish tone to my character for thinking about what he wants from her. The timing for the song 'Bakers Reprise' was slightly off time in the 4:30pm performance as I rushed into saying the spoken lines within the song, as I didn't wait for the beats in the music. This improved in the 7:30pm performance and I used that pause to show my characters facial expressions changing to the determined mind set that he needed to go and get the objects.
Scene Three
In scene three it went well, my duet with the Bakers Wife did not go as good as I had done in the first few shows, in the last show I did not hold out my notes for as long as the music, in my solo section, this then speed me up for the duet section, However the dance we a lot better, I performed all of the moves with strength and confidence. This gave me more confidence with my singing as I didn't need to worry about what move what going to come up next. As I had the mishap with taking off my bag on the first show, I kept it on for the song, this meant I could take out the egg ready for the hen scene. This worked well with timings as the audience were looking at Jack so I could take it out without making it to clear.
Scene Four
As I whole cast for the feeding of the objects, we all worked well together, with timings and our times were in time with the music, this lead to a very comical moment as the cow ate the objects on the chimes. There was I mistake in the 4:30pm performance with the earthquake from Jack with the giant, as the trees were not shaken so it was not clear to the audience that it was happening. This meant that our queue was late as we were not 100% sure of when it happened. For our final shows, the whole cast came together, and really worked as a team, backstage was very calm and everyone was supporting each other, making sure that everyone knew what section was coming up next. This ment that everyone was very confident backstage, which lead to feeling confident on stage. This really showed through everyones performance between the four shows.
