'The Wonderful World of Dissocia' was a play written by Anthony Nielson, he worked closely with students from LAMDA on writing the play. The play won most of the awards when it was written.
The play follows the character of Lisa Jones, this is a woman suffering from dissociative disorder, The play had two very different acts. The first act explores Lisa's imaginary world that she escapes too. While she is in the land of Dissocia she comes across many different characters, many have a positive effect of Lisa's time, helping her along and making sure that she knows where she is and where to go. Where others are not what she wants to be mixing with. This highlights the fact the the disorder is not always a positive thing. The first act uses a lot of comical moments to really confuse an audience, while contrasting with the anger of some scenes. The second act looks into the reality of Lisa's life on a mental health ward, this uses very naturalistic techniques to highlight the serious points Nielson was trying to make. In this act we follow Lisa's life of the repetitive day, of having to deal with doctors and nurses and how her condition can effect her family and friends.
