Grease dance rehearsal 30/1/2015

In this rehearsal we got a chance to practice with all of the boys to do 'Grease Lightning' with the tyres too. In this dance we tried out some moves incorporating the tyres, this included throwing the tyres, spinning them and jumping over them. After we had covered this we did a ruff run of the whole dance, I think that I improved a lot on my characterisation, as I became more fermiluar with the moves. I did this thinking of what the lyrics in the songs meant, and then changing my facial expressions to match the song. For example for the Grease Lightning song I would use a more masculine facial expression, by showing arrogance. Where for songs like 'We Go Together' I would show a more loving, soft facial expression. I think by showing the contrasting characters throughout the dance makes the audience have a story to follow or helps them understand the meaning behind the songs.

At the end of the rehearsal we spent some time on the ending and how we all come into the circle and have a solo moment, we were all give a number so that it had some sort of order and everyone had a chance in the middle.

In preparation for the next lesson I will explore further into character and look into costumes that fit t e era that Grease is set. One of the main character traits that I have picked up on from the 'T-Birds' is their lad like behaviour, I will try to become more butch with my movement, I will evaluate this by watching back recordings and seeing when I drift away from this and when I'm stronger at this.
